GAME RULES

TIME FORFEIT - Teams  must be at their court location at their bracket scheduled time.  If more than 5 minutes elapse from designated start time the team will forfeit the game.

GAME START- A coin flip before the game will determine who gets first possession of the ball to start the game.

POINTS-All games will be played to 15 points straight.

SCORE- All baskets are worth 1 point unless clearly shot from behind the 2 point line (19'9") . Baskets scored from behind this line are worth 2 points.

TIMEOUTS- Each team will be allowed one 60 second time out per game.

BOUNDARIES- The lower portion of the front face of the goal along with the top of the backboard are out of bounds.  The sides and the bottom of the backboard are in play.

SIDE-OUT- The ball must be "checked" by an opposing team before it is put into play.  The ball must be passed in from behind the top out-of-bounds line.  If a player dribbles in the team will be issued one warning.  The second offense will result in loss of possession.  If the ball goes out of bounds and the teams cannot come to an agreement on possession a coin flip by the court monitor will determine whose ball it is.

POSSESSIONS-The ball must be taken back behind the 2 point line at every change of possession.  Failure to do so will result in loss of possession.

SUBSTITUTIONS- Players may substitute at any dead ball situation.

CONDUCT- Any player or team displaying behavior that is detremental to the fun and safe atmosphere of a Joe Hoops event WILL BE REMOVED from game and tournament.  This includes abusive behavior towards any Joe hoops court monitors or employees along with participants.NO EXCEPTIONS!

FOULS- Players call all fouls.  The player who is fouled is responsible for calling the foul at the point of contact.  If the foul is not called play does not stop.  If a foul is called on a shot and the basket goes in the foul will not count toward the team but the basket will count.  On the eigth team foul the opposing team will shoot one free throw. HIT OR MISS the ball then changes possession.

JUMP BALL- Jump balls are awarded to the defensive team.

APPEALS- Only team captains can appeal a call to the court monitor.  If the court monitor feels the call is obvious he/she can over turn.  COURT MONITORS DECISION IS FINAL!

KIDS COURTS- Kids will call their own fouls just like at a playground.  Parents and/or coaches will not make calls for their teams. If both teams agree a Joe hoops referee can monitor the court.  HIS/HER calls are final!
